One of the most famous and widely celebrated festivals of Indian Culture is Teej, we all hear our elders saying that whoever worships Parvati on this day, is fortunate enough to get his/her desires fulfilled by her blessings. The festival celebrates the coming together of Lord Shiva and Parvati after an era of separation. It is the perfect celebration of love, specially for women out there – both single and married in the month of July / August.
The day is celebrated with parents of married women sending Sinjara to their daughters, which is a gift pack that includes bindi, vermilion, mehandi or henna, bangles, ghevar (that perfect mouth watering special Rajasthani Sweet that is inevitably the highlight of teej and our personal favorite :P) and lahariya (a multi-coloured sari). A trip to Agra is a must for anyone visiting Jaipur from Delhi. We begin our road trip in the morning,drive to Agra to see the Mughal Magnificence of the tomb of Akbar, the great Mugal emperor and Agra Fort. Check into your hotel and then head out to experience the purity and romance of the Taj Mahal at sunset.
Experience the Buland Darwaza at Fatehpur Sikri and head out to Jaipur. Our festive celebrations of Teej continue in this marvelous Pink City, experience the authenticity of Rajasthani cuisine with dinner at Chokhi Dhani with its cultural celebration of Teej with the Teej Mela. Head back for an early sleep to prepare for the festival the next day.
Marking the day of Teej, we plan our day early as the possible to make it the most memorable experience of a lifetime for you. Assemble at Tripolia Gate where the processions of the Goddess Paravati is decorated so beautifully and intricately that it nearly matches her beauty. Passing through various markets, the procession commences with folk dance and music and ends at the Chaugan Stadium. Convoy of beautified elephants, horses and camels are made to walk before Goddess Teej's palanquin made of gold and silver, the idols are decorated by the royal families of Jaipur.
We mark the last day of this Rajasthan Tour Package with a visit to the City Palace in the morning followed by lunch at the Palace and exploration of the market for keepsakes. After this eventful celebration, we head back to Delhi on road to mark the end of an epitomic experience.
