The festival and the land of Mount Abu comes to life in the month of April during Buddha Purnima. There are many reasons as to why this festival is celebrated in Mount Abu. Legends have it that this place was blessed with all the 330 million gods and goddesses of the Hindu pantheon, who used to visit this holy mountain.
There are stories of the great saint Vashishth performing the yagna (sacrificial worship on a fire pit) to create four Agnikula (four clans of fire) to save the earth from demons are well sung and heard during the festival, the hospitality of the people of Mount Abu is at its peak during this time.

One of the most blissful and calm rides that one can take in their lifetime is probably a road trip from Udaipur to Mount Abu, from sands to hills to greenery, it is as smooth as the TGV in France. We reach Mount Abu, head for lunch followed by a quick nap and then head out to the scintillating Nakki Lake for a taste of the festivities and culture. Legends have it, that this lake was dug by gods using their fingernails leading to its bed like formation.
The hill resort is decorated and celebrated with folk dances classical music of the tribal life and culture of Rajasthan. Dance forms such as ballads, Gair, Ghoomar and Daph folk dances are a feast of grace and finesse to watch. The final day of the festival marks the final day of dance and games. Around lunchtime teams of locals and tourists contribute in boat races along the marvelous Nakki Lake. Followed by the Sham-e-Qawwali and a soul enriching and engifting show of fireworks bring the perfect finale to our breathtaking marvelous festival to celebrate the season of summer.
