Mewar Festival

Although as a country we are culturally very colorful, but the rectitude and grandiose of the festival of spring, and to celebrate this festival is to celebrate the festival of Mewar, celebrated in the city of romance, Udaipur. Incidentally, this festival coincides with the festival of Gangaur, making it the perfect occasion for women to put on their favorite costumes and jewelry and henna on their hands and feet as it celebrates the togetherness of Lord Shiva and Parvati.

“How is it celebrated?”, for those who ask, well, it is celebrated with dance and energy. Women dress up, dance around and walk towards Lake Pichola to immense the idols of Lord Shiva and Parvati in water. It is a three-day celebration of culture, heritage, religion and faith. It is the feeling of hope that will lift your spirits and leave you breathless at every sight.

The festival takes place in the months of March and April in Udaipur, and people, particularly women from all over the world come to parts of South-Central Rajasthan such as Jaipur, Rajasmand, Chittorgarh and head towards Udaipur. Cities are decorated with lights and bazaars are full of color and grandeur.

With this heritage and majestic background in mind, we bring to you a four-day extravagant Rajasthan Tour starting from the powerful Pink City, going towards Rajasmand followed by Udaipur. We bring an end to this cultural extravaganza in Sawai Madhopur before coming back to Jaipur.


Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day : 1 Jaipur – Rajasmand : 336 kms

    Like all celebrations, ours too begins when we make a move and hit the road early in the morning towards Rajasmand, a five-and-a-half-hour fun filled and culture fueled ride with sights so majestic and breath taking that you will love every second of it. After a quick lunch, we freshen up and explore the largest single unit of marble production in the world. The Kumbhalgarh Fort - the birth place of Maharana Pratap and Haldighati are in store for exploration and celebration for the first day. Followed by dinner and sound comfortable sleep at the hotel. Since, it’s the first day, we relish the taste of Dal- Bhati-Churma and wish that we always lived in Rajasthan.

  • Day : 2 Rajasmand – Udaipur : 63 kms

    We continue with our refuge into the festivities of Mewar with a visit to the Dwarikadheesh and Charbhuja Temples. Explore the bazaar for keepsakes and then head toward Udaipur for the highlight of the festival, the city of romance and escape into the mesmerizing walls of the city, though for a short time. Reach Udaipur for a lunch followed by a glimpse of the dance and galore of the festivities at Gangaur Mela and witness the Garasiya Community dressed in their traditional attire and jewellery, while they carry the idols while dancing. Enjoy the splendor and relish the traditional cuisine at the Mela, head back to the hotel for a sweet comfortable sleep.

    We explore the holy grounds of romance for in the morning after breakfast and head towards the Clock Tower to explore the City and lunch followed by the Gangaur procession and Royal Gangaur Procession at Bansi Ghat in the evening for the major acme of the festival will be the boat procession with the Gangaur Boat all ornamented, resounding the idol of Gangaur. The Boat pageant proceeds from ‘BansiGhat’ to ‘Gangaur Ghat’ in the late evening hours.

  • Day : 3 Udaipur – Sawai Modhopur : 398 kms

    We begin our day early with a beautiful drive to Sawai Modhopur from Udaipur for the perfect scenic experience overlooking the beautiful sands of time of Udaipur. We explore the Ranthambore Fort after lunch to experience the power and valor of the Chauhan Warriors as back as the 8th Century AD. The Ranthambore Fort. History has it that this fort is a formidable focal point of the historical developments of Rajasthan. The fort is known for the glory and valor of Hammir Dev of the Chauhan Rajput Dynasty. Spend the night overlooking the glory of Sawai Modhopur in one of the most comfortable hotels.

  • Day : 4 Sawai Madhopur – Jaipur : 149 kms

    Another highlight of this Rajasthan Tour Package is a one day tour of the exemplary word famous Ranthambore National Park for a ride along with the most beautiful, majestic wild cats out there, the Royal Bengal Tiger.
