Camel Festival Pushkar

To an extravaganza with Camels and much more....

Rajasthan is considered a land of colourful vibrancy and an evident seat of Indian Cultural Heritage. The true face of Rajasthan can generally be experienced amidst the golden sand dunes along with the herd of camels and the twirling movements of young girls to the Kalbelia dance form. Such a scenario comes alive, to present a bouquet of true Rajasthan, during the famous Pushkar Camel Fair.

The onset of the gaudy fete

The Pushkar Camel Fair or popularly also known as Pushkar ka Mela, is an annual livestock fair, that lasts for numerous days, in the pilgrimage town of Pushkar. Also known as the Karthik Mela, it is held roughly around late October through early November, which as the name suggests is in the month of Karthik, in accordance with the Hindu calendar. It goes on till Kathik Purnima or the full moon day of the month of Karthik.

The rendezvous of Ravishing Rajasthan

The Pushkar Camel Fair, is a one-time opportunity for visitors, every year, to witness the spectacle and the vibrancy of over 4,000 people gathering for a period of almost fourteen days. Being of an unimaginable mammoth scale, the fair brings livestock, farmers, traders and villagers from all over Rajasthan for this traditionally acclaimed pageant. Being an imperative part of the seasonal Rajasthan Package, there is no better time for tourists to set their foot on this land, as it is heightened to its crescendo of authenticity and splendour.

Not just camels...

Though the Pushkar Camel Fair, is primarily known as a livestock fair, it is much more than just a bargain of camels by local villagers. There is no place better to shop for authentic Rajathani handicrafts..! Made by rural women and girls, there are shops galore from which tourists can select and purchase the true snipets of Rajasthan they want to take back with them.
